When eyes are blind
This quilt was a project directed by Sarah Mosher, artist in residence for NSCAD New Glasgow Community Studio from 2018-2019 who works with the visually impaired and blind.
During her residency she worked towards making her visual art more accessible to the visually impaired community. Sarah ran an art group at the studio. During these meetings participants would make art projects using different materials and support each other through tea and conversation.
The quilt was an ongoing project for several months. Each person in the group made one or two squares on the quilt. The design was to incorporate the eye motif, choose from select group of fabric and the theme was to depict how we see the world through our eyes. The visually impaired artists were free to design and create their square however they liked with assistance from Sarah to help make their idea a reality.
The quilt was completed in August of 2019 and displayed at the New Glasgow Library at the end of Sarah's residency.
