Curse Of the Visually Impaired, Darling
After I finished my artist residency in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia I continued thinking about the visually impaired community and how I can make my visual art practise more accessible. With the mentorship of Melissa Marr I created this work. I interviewed folks with vision loss about their experiences during the COVID 19 pandemic. Everyone's experience is different within this community and I have drawn images inspired by their stories. Each work is what I call a "3D drawing" that can be "seen" by the sighted and unsighted alike. The piece in the centre reads "Curse Of the Visually Impaired, Darling" in braille (C.O.V.I.D.).
